Building a Wine Rack
If your on this page your looking to build your own wine rack or start your own wine cellar. This is a great place to start. While I do sell wine racks and wine cellar systems, this page is intended to help you before you get to that point. You may have already been to some flashy expensive wine rack sites. This experience may have turned you off from going BIG. Now there are lots of things to consider when building your personal wine cache. Some people need only enough space to fill a small closet and others need full rooms. This is where I like to start first #1 what are your needs?
When you now how much you need or expect to store, finding the space to locate your wine room is a lot easier. However most people have a location already, it is often picked by the child who leaves home first. This now you get to move your office from that pantry to newly vacated room. Now the pantry is available to become the wine cellar of your dreams. Some people are lucky and just have a naturally cool basement. #2 Once you have the space picked out, you have a pretty good idea by now weather or not you need a cooler. I suggest you start at the Breeze Air Website. They are really the best. You will find other makes but this will get you started.
#3 Now at this point you should have a place ,a cooler in mind and a location for the cooler.
#4 Its time to start having fun now. There are lots of choices in wood, but the most common is redwood. Redwood is what I will focus on. For the most part any good rack builder will give you a price for an alternative wood. Redwood is moisture and rodent resistant. I don't believe that finishes are needed on redwood wine racks. If your environment is right the wood will last forever. Some people believe that finishes can infuse the cork and taint the wine...
